PARTICIPATE
The IAD Framework is an emerging intellectual, educational, and practice-based society dedicated to the advancement of Information Architecture across professional practice, research, education, and the broader domains in which information shapes human, organisational, and societal life.
The Framework seeks to maintain a productive balance between theory, practice, and education, creating a space where conceptual development, professional application, teaching, learning, and public discourse can mutually inform and co-develop.
Participation is central to this ambition. It is how spaces become places.
The Framework becomes meaningful through the people who engage it, challenge it, apply it, extend it, and contribute to its development. Participation is therefore understood not as access to content, but as involvement in an evolving intellectual and cultural environment.
Participation is designed to be real-time and online.
Whether you arrive through design practice, research, strategy, teaching, technology, systems thinking, or institutional work, participation begins with a shared interest in understanding and advancing the role of Information Architecture Design in the world.

PARTICIPATION PROGRAM
The IAD Framework is being developed as an ongoing program of discussion, learning, critique, and collaborative inquiry.
As participation pathways mature, activities are expected to include recurring Discussion Groups, Encounters, Masterclasses, Studio Critiques, Speak-Easy sessions, Guest Talks, and other events designed to support the continued development of Information Architecture Design in theory, practice, and pedagogy.
The illustration below represents the intended rhythm and distribution of activities across a typical month. Specific formats, schedules, and offerings will evolve over time as the Framework grows.

Monthly Programme (Conceptual)
Illustrative only. Activities, formats and schedules will evolve as the Framework develops.
PARTICIPATION PATHWAYS
O | THRESHOLD
Threshold is the public entry point into the Framework.
It is intended for those who wish to receive public announcements and release notifications through our mailing list, explore the Canon, and remain connected to the evolving work of the Framework.
1 | BE HERE
Be Here is the founding participation membership of the IAD Framework.
Created for those who wish to help establish the Framework during its formative stages, Be Here supports ongoing discussion groups, speak-easy sessions, guest talks, discounted Encounters, and related activities. Membership structures will evolve as additional participation pathways, learning activities, and contribution opportunities are introduced.
Available from 1 August 2026
2 | PARTICIPATE HERE
Participate Here represents a future pathway for deeper engagement.
This pathway is intended for those seeking deeper engagement through Masterclasses, design critique sessions, free and discounted Encounters, and other structured learning and practice activities.
Planned for Q3/Q4 2026.
3 | CONTRIBUTE HERE
Contribute Here represents opportunities to help extend, teach, steward, and develop the Framework.
Activities will include theoretical extensions, teaching initiatives, learning and practice artefact production, publication, and new event types and forms. Contribution pathways will emerge progressively as the Framework matures.

ENCOUNTER
— 001
THE FRAMEWORK
Encounter 001 marks the beginning of the public release of the IAD Canon and Framework. Across two live sessions, participants will engage the Canon theory directly through discussion, creative studio-based exercises, and guided traversal through the conceptual terrain of IAD.
